I went to this very interesting talk about the Japanese house at the Japan foundation, given by Dr Inge Daniels who is a social anthropologist, for the launch of her book. Beautiful visuals to accompany the research she's produced after 10 years of living and observing different families in Japan...

"Empire of signs" by Roland Barthes

Very insightful short book by Barthes, written when he came back from Japan in the 70's. To be read to question our way of living in comparison with japanese customs: how we approach simple things like eating, food, the city center in between other instances.
